Vizag Based M/s Secon Bags Contract for Construction of Missile Barrages | ELE Times

Indian Navy has signed a contract for the construction of eight Missile cum Ammunition Barges (MCA) with Visakhapatnam based M/s Secon. Delivery of Barges is scheduled to commence from July 22.

The Missile Cum Ammunition Barges will be inducted into the Indian Navy to undertake the mission needs for embarking/ disembarking Missile, Gunnery and ASW Ammunition. The project adds another milestone to the Make in India initiative of the Government of India.

Meanwhile, Turkish shipbuilding firm Anadolu Shipyard will assist Visakhapatnam-based Hindustan Shipyard Limited (HSL) with the transfer of technology to build five mammoth fleet support vessels for the Indian Navy.

The project, estimated to cost between $1.5 billion and $2 billion will involve the transfer of technology from Anadolu Shipyard, part of the TAIS consortium of Turkey, with which HSL signed an agreement for technical collaboration last year.

Rear Admiral Tarun Sobti took over the Command of the Eastern Fleet, the Sword Arm of the Eastern Naval Command, from Rear Admiral Sanjay Vatsayan. The change of guard took place at an impressive ceremony held at the Naval Base, Visakhapatnam.
